Recycling

Recycling
At RSI Roofing, recycling has become a part of day-to-day operations both in the field and office. New ideas from employees each year have helped RSI make a tremendous impact on San Diego's environment and help make a difference at your property.

Roofing often involves removal and disposal of the old roof system prior to installing a new roof. Not all roofing has the capability to be recycled but several types can be. Even though costs are increased, RSI recycles the old roofing material to reduce the impact on local landfills. In 2010, RSI was able to reduce, reuse and/or recycle on 79.2% of all re-roofing jobs.

RSI promotes and installs renewable roofing products such as Single Ply roofing. These thermoplastic materials can be recycled at the end of their useful life and their reflective properties allow building occupants to use less energy for air conditioning in the summer months. In 2010, Single Ply roofing accounted for 93% of all re-roofing jobs RSI completed.

RSI has a recycling bin in each office, in the warehouse AND a yard bin to encourage recycling to all employees.

Recycling is just one aspect of the many environmental initiatives that RSI strives for in becoming a leader in the San Diego community and setting an example for other roofing contractors.
